Welcome To The Benicia Business Improvement District

Congratulations on locating your business within the Benicia Business Improvement District (BID).  Established in 2012, all businesses within this district have elected to collaborate and form the Downtown Benicia Alliance (DBA) which forms a partnership between businesses to work together to promote common interests, improve advocacy for the downtown area and to energize commercial activity within the district.  While embracing the theme of celebrating local merchants every day, the DBA strives to find innovative, exciting and fun-filled ways to generate enthusiasm while driving commerce within the BID district.  The BID includes all businesses fronting First Street between Military and the Carquinez Strait as well as businesses located at 117 East F Street, 141 East D Street, 142 East D Street, 144 East D Street,
145 East D Street, 146 East D Street, 120 East G Street, 144 East G Street and 164 East H Street which will also be included in the BID.

The Boundaries we proposed for our Downtown Benicia Alliance were put into place to be inclusive to everyone on First Street. First Street is long, and is comprised of three (3) main areas.
The Downtown Benicia Alliance has a Board of directors of nine (9) business owners (can also be the business owners designee).  In an effort to promote equality of representation, the Bylaws of the Downtown Benicia Alliance have created three geographic districts on First Street.

The Waterfront District: This district is from B Street to F Street
The Capitol District: This district is from F Street To I Street
The Park District: This district is from I Street To Military Street

Each district shall have no more than four (4) members, three (3) members on the First Floor
One (1) member on the Second Floor

The DBA prides itself on an ever expanding role and has tackled such projects as funding the installation and maintenance of twinkle lights up and down First Street, advocacy regarding issues of common concern, sponsoring events such as a Veteran’s Day reception and enhancing other events such as the monthly Art Walk.  By recognizing a symbiotic relationship between all businesses within the BID, we are dedicated to enhancing the business opportunities for all those doing business within our BID corridor.  This is made possible by relying upon each business, such as yours, to pay an annual fee as the business owner within the district.  We welcome you to the downtown business community and ensure you that your modest annual obligation of $192 for downstairs and $60 for upstairs will be responsibly invested to creatively stimulate commercial activity into the district where your business is located.

We look forward to welcoming you as a contributing member of the DBA for many years to come.

Appreciatively,
DOWNTOWN BENICIA ALLIANCE
